ancillary mock ups
Lyrics for Album
Lyrics written up in a word document for 12 songs for the album. I really wanted to do a lyric book, to me, the most important thing about music, isn't the image etc, but the lyrics. Here are the lyrics for our album 'the also rans'. They're songs already used, but songs that i feel fit the genre well. Mainly from artists such as Avril lavigne, Pink, You me at six etc. I also changed some of the words around so that it's slightly different where parts weren't relevant. We now have you experiment between publisher and photoshop in order to get the layout of this booklet correct.

Back of digipak mock up
this is another mock up i've done for the back of our digipak. ive adjusted the brightness to make the font of the songs to stand out more and now the flowers are more bright too. i once again like the cream and brown theme and i think the child on the wall looks effective. as i was making this leonie suggested that we could crop her out on the wall to adjust her seperately so then we could keep the wall bright but then her dark to make her stand out more. the font used is 'french script mt' and i feel this font suits our genre and looks good against the vulnerable picture.
Idea for digipak behind the CD
I like this idea for either the back of the album or the inside of the album as it connotes vulnerabiltiy and loneliness yet still looks pretty and feminine. This would fit well with our genre of music and would fit well with the name of album. However i believe that this idea could look more effective on the inside of our digipak behind the CD disk as it has no eye contact so therefore would not connect with the audience and would not be as powerful and striking than what a face on picture would be.
Poster Mock Up

this is an image i found off google and decided to use as a template for these quick mock ups i did on photoshop. i like the simplicity of it and also the cream and brown colours rather than using a harsh black and white contrast. i think the lack of writing works as a positive for the mock up as too much information would cramp the photo and take away its power. the top one uses a slightly more swirly girly font, and i think i prefer the top font over the bottom.
weather update!

due to the fact it is now SNOWING weve had to change some of ideas to make sure it fits the fact it is going to be wintery in our pictures..
therefore.. we are going to do some of our pictures for the poster in the snow and then say the album is coming out in winter. this way the snow will suit the fact that the album is coming out in winter as it wouldnt make sence if we released the album in a summer month.
Picture Ideas for Tomorrows Photoshoot
This is an idea of how to frame a shot of leonie. i really like this idea of her being on top of a wall to one side, making her look vulnerable and lonely as if she is waiting for someone to come join her. This will then tie into the new name of our album as if to say she has been forgotten about.
This is another random picture i found off google. i feel this sort of shot suits our genre and once again makes leonie look down and sad.
our recent idea ties in the fact that we would like some shots of leonie in a park. so this shot would work well for maybe our back page or in our lyric book.

me and leonie both love this shot. were tempted to mimic it and also involve a cuddly toy to emphasise how vulnerable and sweet leonie is. the fact it is in black and white also makes the picture look so nice and scenic. we're very likely to produce a shot like this to put on our front cover.
album name change
After thinking more in depth we've decided to cahnge the name of our album. We had chose 'Eyes like open doors' but we all agreed this was a bit week and self explanatory instead of being more discreet with almost a hidden message. We got our new idea from a conversation i had with my dad! He was telling me about horse racing when they announce the winners, and said that they name the first three and then say 'also ran was...' We've now decided to call our album the also-rans. As this term to us implies the ones that are left behind or forgotten about, which fits the mood and genre of our video/album perfectly.

Dictionary definition:
1. (General Sporting Terms) a contestant, horse, etc., failing to finish among the first three in a race.
2. an unsuccessful person; loser or nonentity.

More inspiration for our inside digipak

our teacher suggested we find pictures of a kate moss photoshoot that she did in a photobooth style. i then googled this idea and found the picture he was on about. we all feel this looks really cool in the way she does so many different expressions.
the bottom one i just found on google but also think is really cool and querky and gives a similar look to what we want in the way its so many different pictures, but yet so similar.
Editing final video

On Thursday we edited our final draft of the video we filmed on Wednesday night. First of all we imported all of the clips of the video recorder and deleted the clips we didnt like and cut the clips we did like down to the footage we needed. We then sorted the clips out into left side right sight and central shots. We had to cut the whole song down by about 10-15 seconds in order to start the lip syncing at the same time as the actual music. We then decided what order the clips should be in as we agreed that we shouldnt go to a close up to an extreme close up as the transition would make it look dodgy. On every one we went from the side to a close up to show substantial difference in each shot. We then had to chose the parts of the song we wanted each clip to go alongside as in not changing clip half way thorugh a verse. And using the powerful/teary clips for the chorus/bridge of the song. Also making sure that the syncing matched the transitions. We finally had to add a title to the beginning to make it look like an actual music video. Despite the visual simplicity of our video, there was HUGE amounts of time and effort that went into filming and editing.
Final Idea For Poster
We have decided for our poster that we are going to have a simple photo of Leonie (freya) against a graffitied wall. This image will hoepfully create a look that gives off attitude. We are going to experiment with ideas with makeup and clothes on the day to see which image looks most effective.

Final Idea For Digipak
We have officially decided that for the front cover our digipak we are going to use a photo of leonie "freay" sitting down on a playground/ tarmaced area with chalk written on the floor saying "freya" and the name of the album. We want the angle of the camera to be from a high shot with leonie looking up at the camera with a blank expression and plain makeup with dark eyes.
For the inside of the digipak we are going to put 9 photos of leonie pulling different and funny faces on each photo in black and white, all in the white vest top same hair and makeup. (as seen on blog)
For the image behind the CD we are going to put some sort of photo of our artist however we are unsure yet which photo or what sort of image we want.
For the back of the album we are going to have leonie swinging on a swing to create continuity from the front cover to the back (playground image). Currently we are unceratin as to what sort of pose we want her to do for it, between sad photo of her on the swing with it still and her looking miserable at the camera or facing down/away from the camera or the alternative a happy photo of leonie on the swing swinging high smiling with legs straight in the air. We're thinking more towards the first idea as it will fit better with continuity.

final filming
On Wednesday night we finally did our last version of our video! We filmed it so many times adjusting lights and stances etc. Also playing around with the backdrop to get rid of creases in the material that would show up on camera. After recieving some more feedback from the teachers, they asked us to show even more emotion in terms of crying etc, but found it so hard to cry on tape!! So in the end we resorted to cutting up onions infront of my face and my eyes were streaming! to the point I could hardly open them! It worked though as it looks like i'm genuinly crying! Here are some of the pictures.

New Digipak Idea (Inside)

When opening the digipak on the left hand side to go next to the disc we've thought of doing multiple images of Leonie. We will probably do 9 different images to fill the space (like a 3x3 grid). These images will range from silly to normal, just to show that even though our video is depressing Leonie as an artist does have a nice appealing personality. (Similar to the artist Pink, comes across rude and tough yet some of her videos show her fun side). Here are some practice images we took just to mess around and experiment with :)<>

I am kloot-proof
This is a video by Proof called I am Kloot. This video is a perfect example of how the emotion of a song can be perfectly portrayed through such a simple media. The man in this video doesn't even lip sync the song, yet the emotion is so clear in his eyes and his gradual smile. I love this video. And completely goes along with the portrayal we're trying to make in our video; that the simplicity is a strength of a video.
FILMING
this is from when we filmed our most recent footage going with the all lip syncing idea. this is katie messing around with the lamp haha :) but we used this lamp because it has 3 different brightness settings and therefore could use it to adjust the lighting on leonies face.
this is leonie looking at the footage she has already filmed as then she could see what she needs to change about herself or what she needs to keep doing. it was really important to keep looking back at the footage because there would be no point doing all the footage then looking at it when we get school for it to be wrong.

some pictures from filming the narrative which were scrapping anyway.

ancilary mock ups

Really rough drawing mock up of the poster for the ancillary products. We have several ideas which we'll soon put up pictures for the mock up for, but this idea is of the main artist on a chaise lounge infront of a wall with graffiti on, the setting is supposed to look run down and miserable as is the artist. All as part of the genre. The graffiti on the wall will say the date of the album release and the artist name and album title will be at the bottom. Obviously in real life it will look so much better than this! We're planning to take the photos for the digipak and the posters on Sunday so we'll be able to make a more accurate mock up then!
Inside our digipak
As a group we have decided to incorporate a lyrics bookelt and a membership card inside our digipak. We think that these will be good for viral marketing of our artist and album. The lyric bookelt would help the marketing through the use of social network sites as people on things such as facebook often post lyrics as theyre status's in order to show their current feelings.
I think the membership card would work for advertising as again it would market on websites like "follow freya on twitter" or join freya on "facebook". It would also encourage people to potentially purchase Freya's new song on Itunes and even could incorporate her tour dates and new single releases and any upcoming events and festivals she may be playing at and attending.
